Domel receives an Environmentally Friendly Product Award 2021 at the Environmental Meeting

03. 01. 2022

Domel’s guiding principle, which we have pursued since our beginnings, is to develop and produce environmentally friendly products. One of our company’s market segments is electronically commutated (EC) motors. Due to their savings in electric power consumption, their efficiencies are proportionally reflected in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and a lower environmental impact. In particular EC drive systems intended for use in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) rank among the top five consumers of electricity. Due to their continuous (24/7) operation, energy consumption is even more important in the applications in which such motors are used.

The HVAC motors NZ270 with a power range from 5 to 50 kW, developed and produced by Domel, in combination with its electronics achieve the highest efficiency in the segment. They meet the highest energy efficiency class IE5, and contribute to significantly lower electricity consumption during operation. They are characterised by a high level of material efficiency and long lifetime. The motors provide high material efficiency since their weight is as little as 1/3 that of the traditionally most commonly used asynchronous drive systems.

REMHub: Rare Earth and Magnets Hub for a resilient Europe

As the world pivots towards a greener future, rare earth elements (REEs) and magnets have emerged as essential components in the energy transition. They are crucial for technologies like electric vehicles, wind turbines, and clean hydrogen solutions. However, the EU's dependence on imports for 90% of its REEs highlights a pressing need for local expertise and innovation. With recycling rates for REEs currently below 5%, there is a significant opportunity for growth and development in this area.
