Research, develop and grow with us
We work hand in hand with our clients to develop and evolve products over time
Explore our processDomel from Železniki and Cult from Logatec are working together to develop electric bikes – the former supplying a mid-drive it has developed itself and the latter developing and assembling the bikes themselves. The bikes are 100% the result of Slovenian expertise and know-how, making them more than worthy of the title ‘Made in Slovenia’.
Do you fancy taking a bike trip up into the hills or maybe embarking on a longer journey? Domel are more than happy to let you try the e-Cult out for yourself. So get in touch, climb on to this extremely high-spec electric bike and experience one of the world’s sweetest rides. The bikes come in three sizes: small, medium and large.
The heart of any e-bike is the motor. The advantage of the Domel motor lies in its outstanding performance, with a torque of 112 N.m., and high efficiency level, which helps to extend the bike’s range per battery charge. In addition, Domel guarantee that the motor will last for at least 20,000 km, which gives the average user 10 years of carefree cycling.
The removable lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of over 660 Wh, is housed within the frame of the bike. It has been assembled by Maribor-based company Comtron, who guarantee that it will last for more than 25,000 km of riding. The company have also developed suitable electronic components that enable the battery to communicate with the control electronics in the motor. In addition to the bike, the lucky owner gets a charger that can refill the battery in around four hours. The battery is very simple to remove from the bike and carry around when not required.
The e-Cult bike has been designed with different riding conditions in mind, from well-tended city roads to easier off-road terrain. It will appeal to older cyclists who want to ride on asphalt or tarmac, and recreational cyclists who fancy tackling some solid inclines. You can choose between four levels of electric assist.
An e-Cult can be ridden by young and old, and by those looking for a downhill adrenalin rush or the chance to go higher than they ever imagined. It will also appeal to riders who want to conquer longer distances with ease, and those who need a bike for their everyday tasks.
The bike’s drive features a clutch. When riding without electric assist, you’ll only use the outer sprocket, as with a normal bike (it just makes the bike a bit heavier). The bike weighs a little over 22 kg, which is even a little better than its competitors; what’s more, you’ll be getting one of the most powerful drives currently on the market. In fact, it’s rated one of the ten best by European customers. The e-Cult also features 29-inch wheels and a highly capable braking system. The Marzocchi Z2 forks have been specially designed for use with e-bikes, with the Sigma EOX R500 smart control centre giving you easy access to ride distance and other data.

Read articleAs the world pivots towards a greener future, rare earth elements (REEs) and magnets have emerged as essential components in the energy transition. They are crucial for technologies like electric vehicles, wind turbines, and clean hydrogen solutions. However, the EU's dependence on imports for 90% of its REEs highlights a pressing need for local expertise and innovation. With recycling rates for REEs currently below 5%, there is a significant opportunity for growth and development in this area.
